Forthcoming 10 November 2026 - Launch of TArGET Health
While new technologies entering the public health context present transformative opportunities for global health, they also create challenges and pose risks. Health actors including governments, researchers, innovators, civil society organizations often lack the resources and structured processes needed to assess technologies, understand their potential impacts, and identify suitable governance options.
To address this gap, WHO and OECD partnered to develop TArGET Health, a tool that supports more comprehensive assessments of technologies and potential governance solutions. TArGET Health translates policy principles and governance concepts into a practical and actionable process, drawing on existing governance frameworks and the high-level guidance and expertise of both organizations. By prompting critical reflection, multidisciplinary dialogue, and evidence-informed deliberation, it can be used to respond to sudden assessment needs, evaluate technologies as solutions to problems, anticipate future developments, and inform strategic action. It promotes more adaptive and anticipatory approaches to technology governance and aims to:
- strengthen stakeholders' capacity to contribute to policy development and governance decision-making,
- reduce the gap between technological advances and policy responses, and
- address the complex challenges raised by technological convergence.
TArGET Health will become available online on 10 November 2026. To join the launch:
