As artificial intelligence continues to transform health research, ensuring ethical oversight and public trust has never been more important.
WHO will host a virtual launch of its new report, Artificial Intelligence-related Health Research: Ethics Review and Oversight, which provides practical recommendations for researchers, ethics committees, regulators, funders and policy-makers on the responsible conduct of AI-enabled health research.
The webinar will feature opening remarks, an overview of the report, and a panel discussion with leading experts on the ethical oversight of AI-related health research. Discussions will explore key issues including informed consent, bias in AI-related health research, improving the capacity of research ethics committees, and addressing risks with AI-related health research in low-income settings, followed by audience Q&A and closing remarks.
A department news update will be available at 10:00 CEST on 21 September 2026 on WHO's news page. Journalists who may wish to have early access to the report and are interested in further information on the topic can contact mediainquiries@who.int.
