In partnership with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), WHO is conducting a 4-hour webinar, over 2 days (3rd to 4th March, 2020) to provide guidance to countries in the preparation of readiness (3rd March, 9p.m. – 11p.m. CET) and project proposals to the GCF (4thMarch, 9p.m. – 11p.m.). The webinar has a focus on the WHO SEARO and EMRO regions, however, it is open globally.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently been approved as a Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Partner. As a Readiness Delivery Partner, WHO provides services to member states such as:
- Development of readiness request proposals to the GCF;
- Implementation and supervision of climate projects;
- Support with financial management; progress reporting; and
- Project completion and evaluation.
WHO can support countries in developing readiness proposals and implementing readiness activities for public health such as conducting a health vulnerability and adaptation assessment (V&A's), developing the health component of the national adaptation plan (H-NAP), assessing the health co-benefits of mitigation, as well as providing support with the development of a full project proposal or any other health priority issues as agreed with the National Designated Authority or Focal Point (NDA).
The GCF Readiness Programme provides up to USD 1 million per country per year and up to USD 3 million per country for the development of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), including H-NAPs.
The next deadline to submit readiness proposals to the Green Climate Fund is 31st March 2020.
